Every GDC (General Dental Council) Registered Dental Technician as from 01 August 2008 must carry out a minimum of 150 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in every 5 year cycle.
A third of which should be verifiable CPD (50 hours) which should include 10 hours of Medical Emergencies, 5 hours of Disinfection and Decontamination and 5 hours of Materials and Equipment. This equates to 30 hours of CPD per year and at the end of each year each Registered Technician is legally obliged to make a return to the GDC showing at least 30 hours of CPD.
To help you do this we provide links to organisations that provide structured CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and may also assist you in keeping and managing a record of your CPD to date and make your annual return for you (in some cases automatically and electronically).
